Cardiff Hall Beach (Flavours Beach)
Cardiff Hall Beach — almost always called Flavours Beach locally, after the restaurant anchoring it — is a free public beach in Runaway Bay: a long run of white sand with a striking black-and-white pattern where the tide recedes, and calm, clear water that's genuinely good for swimming rather than just wading.
Flavours Restaurant handles the food side (seafood, fried chicken, burgers), and there are craft vendors, restrooms, and showers on site, with a lifeguard on duty. It's quiet on weekdays and busier with local visitors on weekends.
It sits right on the main road across from a RUBiS gas station in Runaway Bay, with parking on site, so it's an easy, well-marked stop rather than a hunt down an unmarked lane.
Good to know
- Entry is free. Changing rooms run about J$100 (often waived with a restaurant purchase) and showers about J$200.
- The beach's hours follow the restaurant's, so it's not a place to plan around for an early-morning or late-evening swim.
- Late afternoon (roughly 3-6pm) is the recommended window if you want softer sun for photos.
