Chukka River Outpost at Good Hope
Good Hope is Chukka's river outpost in Trelawny, spread over 2,000 acres of old plantation estate on the Martha Brae River — a quite different proposition from their Seville outpost ten minutes from the house. Ruins and interpretive plaques sit across the grounds, alongside Adventure Falls, pools, a riverside bar and grill, and a bird aviary.
The activities are the draw and they stack: ziplines over the jungle and the river, bamboo rafting, river tubing, dune buggies, e-bikes and a waterslide, with rum tastings and Jamaican food on site. Passes bundle several together rather than selling them one at a time.
It reviews well — around 4.5 out of 5 across a couple of thousand reviews — with the zipline operation and the guides singled out. The recurring complaints are waits between activities, a mandatory locker fee, and fairly persistent requests for tips.
At around an hour and a quarter each way this is the longest drive west in the guide, about twenty minutes further than 876 Beach Club — only Nine Mile, inland in the hills, takes longer. Worth building a whole day around, or skipping in favour of the Seville outpost if you mainly want the ride-and-swim.
