Luminous Lagoon (Glistening Waters)
The Luminous Lagoon at Glistening Waters, near Falmouth, is one of a very small number of bioluminescent bays anywhere. Microscopic organisms in the water emit light when they're agitated, so the boat's wake glows, fish pass underneath like torches, and rain hitting the surface sets off the whole surface at once.
Tours run nightly from sunset and last about 45 minutes to an hour. You can get in — the lagoon is only three to eight feet deep, and the glow gathers around whatever is moving. The operator's line is "the more you splash, the more you glow", which is accurate.
It's a long drive out past Falmouth into Trelawny, so this is an evening given over to it rather than something you slot around other plans. It's also the only thing in this guide that has to be done after dark.

- Bring a swimsuit and towel if you want to get in, which is rather the point.
- No flash photography — it washes the bioluminescence out completely. A camera that copes with low light does far better than a phone.
