Puerto Seco Beach
Puerto Seco Beach sits in Discovery Bay, the sheltered harbor where Christopher Columbus is said to have first landed in Jamaica — fine white sand and calm, swimmable water, with a genuine day's worth of things to do beyond sunbathing.
On-site facilities include a small water park (slide, trampoline, play areas), glass-bottom boat rides, kayaking and paddle boating, a SCUBA and snorkeling center, a dolphin interaction area, and gazebos and lounge chairs to rent, plus restaurants and bars for food through the day. Lifeguards are on duty.
It's a step up from the free local beaches elsewhere in this guide (Priory Beach, Cardiff Hall) — closer to a proper beach-resort day than a quick dip, with an entrance fee to match, so it's worth planning as its own outing rather than a stop along the way to somewhere else.
